Magni 501 Magni 501 Article: SEPTEMBER 2011 US-based Magni Industries' research and development staff along with senior design leader, paul Badryka, engineered this new zinc-rich metal component coating to increase corrosion resistance with no added costs. The key to the new chrome-free coating is the combination of unique anti-corrosion pigments blended into the Magni 501 coating system as a perquisite to extending the service life of the steels used to make fasteners and stampings. The other key design goal was creating the rheology necessary to achieve better film forming characteristics when coating fasteners in bulk applications with out sacrificing cathodic protection. Magni points out that the chemistry selection of Magni 501 results in improved physical properties that help achieve uniform film thickness and better coverage of sharp dihedral thread crests of a wide range of g-forces, resulting in improved adhesion and chip resistance to accommodate common bulk processing issues. "Other performance properties, such as no hydrogen embrittlement concerns, no waste treatment, torque tension consistency, paintability, no post-coating sealers and environmental compliance (WEE ELV REACH RoHS) are exactly the traits desired by metal component manufacturers. Magni 501 is ideal for fasteners especially recessed metal parts. For Magni's 501 article go to:  F+Fp120

VW Specifies Magni 594 The Volkswagen Group has just approved newly developed Magni 594 for threaded bolts and nuts in severe corrosion, under vehicle/under hood applications, per the VW TL 245 specification. This new Magni 594 coating is totally chrome free, and consists of only two layers, combining Magni’s widely used zinc rich base coat, with a new inorganic aluminum pigmented topcoat with internal lubrication engineered to comply with Volkswagen friction requirements. Additional extreme performance requirements of the Magni 594 coating include the uniform thin film of only 12 microns, consistent thread gaugeability, chemical resistance, high heat resistance, and frictional properties that prevent stick/slip during bolt/nut installations on high speed assembly lines. AFEL's new web site was launched in October 2007. Anti-Friction Enterprises Ltd. is one of The Magni Group's licensed applicators.
